This film was a lot of fun to work on, as I had never gotten to work on a fighting film before. Luckily, we used actual MMA fighters who already had their professional gear. I coordinated color scheme and wardrobe with them, sometimes having the actresses buy pieces that fit and reimbursed them.

The shirts they're wearing say "Team Laroux" on the back, and since I didn't have time to get them screen printed, I took some sponge letters and white fabric paint and made the letters myself.

Working with Production Design is essential for a costume designer, and in this case they helped me by getting a doctor's robe.

Sometimes you're surprised at what actresses have in their closets. For Amber's mom, I asked her if she had any hippy-looking things since her character is stuck in the past, and she came back with a bunch of options, which I combined with other pieces I found.

Throughout the movie there are flashback scenes to when Amber was a young girl. It was important to see that she's becoming more and more like her father, and less like her mother. Her father is wearing red, which plays a very prominent role in the film.

Amber's color pallet was blues and darker tones, signifying how much different she is now from when she grew up.

The garage scene is where the color red really comes into play. Red symbolizes trauma in the past, and her father.

This photo shows how much working with Production Design (PD) is essential for costume designers. Diane needed to match her environment, AKA, the house, so it was important to work with PD to achieve the right look.
